What is Neurostar TMS?
TMS is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy, a non-drug treatment for major depression. TMS uses focused magnetic pulses, similar to an MRI, to reignite dormant synapses in the brain and help your brain function the way it was meant to.
It is not a drug, “shock” therapy, or surgery. It is a safe, effective treatment for MDD without the common side effects of medication.
NEUROSTAR TMS has been FDA cleared for 15 years, and it uses tiny magnetic impulses (like an MRI) to provide lasting depression relief – by treating depression at the source, without the side effects of medication.

Sometimes, the best option to treat depression isn’t medication, but rather a non-medication approach called Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy. TMS is an entirely non-invasive procedure widely used in the treatment of depression, anxious depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
TMS creates a magnetic field whereby a tiny electric current is induced in a specific part of the brain. The current is generated by the magnetic field created by an electromagnetic coil delivering pulses through the scalp. Treatment with TMS does not require sedation and is virtually pain-free.
Typically, TMS treatment is performed four to five times per week for several weeks. Sessions usually last approx 20 mins. If you feel that the medication you take to manage your depression isn’t helping, talk to your doctor, and see if TMS may be right for you.
Neurostar is the leader in TMS therapy, which is why Dr. Fierros chose it from among many options in the TMS world, as she only wants the best treatment experience for her patients. TMS has been FDA cleared for treatment resistant depression since 2008 and has years of research proving its safety and efficacy. It has gotten cleared for the treatment of anxious depression and OCD as well, which are very difficult to treat. It is covered by most insurances, as they realize that it is to their benefit to cover such an effective treatment option! We also offer financing options through Advanced Care for those who need them. For questions about TMS, its cost, or payment, please contact our office at (210) 399-2740.
